Should we invite children? |
| Most people think of a wedding as an adult
party. Often it is schedule for late afternoon or evening when children are in
their wind down mode, preparing to go to bed around 8PM. Because it is an adult
atmosphere, children may become bored and restless. This can be problematic for
their parents. The parents are now dealing with a child who is bored and wants
to touch everything, run like the wind, or is crying because they are tired.
If it is possible, arrange for a babysitter to pick up the children after the ceremony, or after the cocktail hour, and take them to someone's house or the hotel where they are staying. At this location the sitter can play games, watch a movie, or just supervise the children playing, or sleeping. The children are in a fun and safe, atmosphere and the parents are enjoying their time with you. If children must stay at the reception then consider hiring a babysitter to stay at the reception with the children to keep them occupied. Supply the sitter with age appropriate coloring books, crayons, toys, games, and books. Be sure that all items are safe for all ages. |
